Newman School - Groundwork Part 2

Submitted by Anonymous on 27 May 2019

In November 2018, some Rotherham Sitwell Rotarians worked over a week end to clear some of the extensive grounds of Newman School. In May 2019, nine of us re-visited the school, to prepare an area for wild flowers.
What we weren’t really prepared for was a battle with what appeared to be the inspiration for John Wyndham’s “The Day of the Triffids”. The battle however intensified when a swarm of bees objected to the noise and vibration of a rotavator, at that point been “driven” by Dave Taylor. One of the bees took its revenge by stinging him! Despite this he carried on.
We look forward to seeing how the flowers grow.
