Gaynor Smith tells us about abuse counselling
Our speaker last Thursday was Gaynor Smith, Clinical Lead with Rotherham Abuse Counselling service. This is a charity, which operates for local people aged 13 and over, providing help with a whole range of physical, mental, sexual and other serious abuse and/or violence issues. She is pictured here with Mel Hughes, who introduced her to Sitwell Rotary Club.
Gaynor said she was nervous speaking to a group of Rotarians, but in fact she spoke from the heart, and really did give us a very good guide to help us be aware and understand more about issues which affect a surprisingly large number of people. She and her colleagues assess and support people through a series of individual sessions, group activities, and via a drop-in centre.
We wish Gaynor and her team well in helping people rebuild their lives.
