Courtyard at Shiloh
Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club is supporting Shiloh a charity that offers support to adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Rotherham. Shiloh works alongside every ‘guest’ , to help them to plan for and realise a better future.
Although the centre has excellent facilities, it has had a very unattractive outside courtyard area. In order to improve this Tom Knight, chair of Community and Vocational has liaised with two construction firms to freely provide the workforce to create an area which is now fully paved with decking, seating, plants and art work undertaken by the guests.
In order to pay for the materials Tom (71) has persuaded four fellow Rotherham Wheelers to ride from the source of the River Rhine to the sea. Sponsorship by Rotarians and friends and families should generate at least £3000 to pay for the materials. The ride takes place in late June 2019.
This is the second large scale project that Tom has led on: the other one being a Woodland Path at Newman Special School in Rotherham in 2018.
